2005 Question

We recieved our 05 disks the other day and will begin our testing soon. One thing I noticed is that the books that came with the 05 disks seem a little thin compared to 04 and 03. Is this the way it will be from now on? I was expecting a similar book to the 04, any info?

The new books are thin. Just shows the highlights of 2005. The What's new in the help section is approx. 250 pages and covers everything new in 2005 with examples. If you don't like reading the What's New Guide on the screen you could print it. SW also offers a full manual, it's HUGE and can be purchased on the website for about $30 or you can pick up a copy at SW World.

This is were a second computer comes in handy! I used my laptop to display the What's new Guide for SW05, then used my other system to follow it. I know most of you may not have the luxury, but if you do take advantage of it vs printing it out. You probably throw it away when your done or it will collect dust later.

That will work for me, I do have 2 Computers on my desk at work, one is a mac. We only use PC's in our engineering departments, the rest of the company runs on Macs.

This is a question related to "testing" of SW05. Our company is waiting to install SW05 site-wide until we do our own limited testing. A question I have is related to legacy files. Has anyone seen a problem with SW05 when opening older SW97-00 file types?

This is were a second computer comes in handy!

I've been scrounging for an old second monitor to use for displaying documentation. (Most graphics cards and drivers support some form of multiple monitor setup.) Seems no matter how big the screen is, I'd prefer to have SW maximized.

That's why I said a second computer - Meaning completely separate so I don't have to share my space with SW. I too prefer my SW to be maximized.

I haven't tested anything older then SW03. From what I have opened I haven't had anything happen that I can recall.

Why don't you install a copy on your system or at home and test it with your files from work, etc...?
