Greetings,

I'm looking to adhere a silicone based gasket to a 304 or 316L stainless steel housing with the nomenclature of "food-packaging adhesive" from 21 CFR 175.105 part 2(b) claiming To assure safe usage of adhesives, the label of the finished adhesive container shall bear the statement ‘‘food-packaging adhesive’’. I contacted many adhesive companies and they have been unable to help me out. The companies I have talked to are claiming to meet this CFR somehow.

I am wondering if there is something I am missing. If anyone could help me out, that would be great.

Matthew

Have you read CFR175.105 p2?
It says that any adhesive claiming to meet the requirements must be labeled " food packaging adhesive".
It is their responsibility to use only listed ingredients, and they show this by labeling.
If they claim to meet the requirement ask them how they show it.
Call 3M or DowCorning, they have entire lists of suitable adhesives.
