Hi, I want to do an axisymetric 2d FEM analysis using NX 12. I have the 2D cross section of the revolution part but I don't know how to proceed. I have tried using the axisymmetric 2d elements but I don't know how to define the revolution axis. I tried to do a normal structural analysis but it doesn't work. Do I have to select some specific options when creating the FEM, PRT or SIM files?

I would like to know how to do it step by step if possible

Thanks!

I don't think there are any special FEM, other than the boundary conditions.

The axis of rotation should be defined as a geometry axis.

Have you tried a tutorial problem, or YT ?

In Nastran axis for axisymmetric elements is hardcodded so you do not need to define it. Your axisymmetric mesh (element types CQUADX4, CQUADX8, CTRAX3, and CTRAX6) should obey those rules (taken from Nastran Quick Refrence Guide, QRG.pdf).
