2D exchange tips

We use 2D exchange a lot to take UG drafting and make it usable for AutoCAD. Does anyone have any tips for this. We generally get decent results except the text and tolerancing gets messed up sometimes. BTW we use NX2. Thanks for any help.

When I creat a drawing to be exported.

1. export it as a cgm file(make sure you check polylines insted of text).
2. Import the cgm into into the modeling side of a new part.
3. export to dxf.

That method will work, but EVERYTHING turns into lines and arcs, including text & dimensions. A clean export of a drawing is constantly an uphill battle in my opinion.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried the UG >> CGM >> DXF method and the only thing I do not like is the destruction of the objects like Tim said in his post. I have to admit it looks good but I was hoping for the best of both worlds (if possible). Oh, if they could only learn a few lessons from SolidEdge. Their conversion works exellent for AutoCAD.

Ironic since SolidEdge is the lower cost software from the makers of UG.

UG's translation of drawings & their dimensions is pretty much for the birds & always has been as far as I'm concerned. For the most part, if you want to guarantee all edges from your part translate, you have to get the UG to 2D package, which is an added cost. But even then, the dimensions do not translate well.

I normally do not try & complain a whole lot about UG, but since I've seen no great strides in these areas for close to 10 years, I feel it's justified.
