Hi HAve to sit an exam for a job have to be able to use proE 2d, but I have been taught to AutoCAD for 2D . Where is the best place to pick up the ity bitty things that are required , would it be part of any book?

If I was in this position, I think I would reconsider my choice of companies if they are using Pro/E as a 2D system.

Are you talking about using the drawing module in Pro/E as you would create a drawing from a part or assembly model or actually drawing in 2D? It seems you asked for help with thread554-196523 Did you not find any help with those links. Here is a reply thread554-196063

This post contains no political overtones or undertones for that matter and in no way represents the poster's political agenda.

PTC can do a lot better for a drawing sketcher if you are talking about it for this reason. One of my major gripes is if you want to create a layout and use the drawing sketcher you will see intent manager constraints appear but you do not have the ability to lock equal length or parallel constraints. Also with Pro/E's power it's surprising that there is no rectangle tool in drawing so you have to import it or sketch 4 lines.

This is something they should have addressed a while ago. The parametric sketching remembers parameters but not if you decides to resize by dragging. If you try to sketch a parallelogram with drawing detected constraints, you will find it quite impossible.

I once created a drawing of a simple wiring diagram by creating the Rectangles by long form individual line creation and created a drawing group so I could drag them around. without having the rectangles deform. I was also able to activate the parameters when drawing the cables with splines linked to the rectangles so when I moved them the wires stayed connected.

Tables in Pro/E 2d are notoriously slower with the new table ui. I saw a post on Mapkeys that showed how much easier it was with the old functionality. There is no reason for a table cell that can't be edited by selecting the cell and entering text like every other system does.

Pro/E is a great drafting package but if you wan't straight 2d without hassles go with AutoCAD or Inventor which I believe had shaded views in drafting before PTC's Wildfire 3.0

Well the thing is I am able to do the 3d stuff ok. The 2D i think they want also use it rather than have another program. The way I was taught was to do it with proe and the autocad the 2d stuff.
thats why I am asking...

Well it's easy to use, but some times a feel like it's a small child that doesn't want to listen. Parametric Sketching should allow for constraints to be kept but I think it limits you to just one.

You most likely will want to go to Tools > Environment and turn on
2D Arc Centers , no explanation required
2D Constraints , displays constraints for entities selected

Even if you see an L for Equal Length and a // for Parallel it will usually keep just one of them. Maybe PTC figured most people need the software to do their constraining and don't use the following intent manager shortcuts in draft.
(MB3) = Disable Constraint
(Shift+MB3) = Lock Constraint
(TAB) Select Current Constraint to Modify

These would be quite handy for creating Formats with out endless import export operations and unlinked sketches as it currently operates WF2.

The main thing that would be tested is knowing how to enable disable sketch preferences like Grid Snap, Angle, Horiz-Vertical and the Chain Sketching. All accessable through Sketch > Preferences and the Drawing Sketcher Icons.

It might also be handy to learn where the draft grid settings are. Which are in a separate and old Menu MGR location View > Draft Grid.

I guess that PTC doesn't like having a drawing sketcher and model sketcher that are identical like in Solid Works.

just my $.04, I raised the price given inflation and poor programming of Drawing Sketcher
