does anyone have a reference to website or good text book with internal motor winding of dahlander induction 2/4 pole (Y/YY) arrangement. I was trying to sketch it out and visualise how the motor winding is powered in the low speed and then subsequently the high speed arrangement and how the 6 tails of the winding come out to terminal box. grateful of any useful references

Try this:

My first text-books called the Dahlander connection a consequent pole connection.
I mention this to aid in my explanation.
At a given instant, the windings of one phase will be developing pairs of north magnetic poles and pairs of south magnetic poles.
The connections to half of the poles are reversed so that at a given instant, all same poles are developed.
As a CONSEQUENCE the opposite poles are developed between the windings, hence consequent poles.
Half of the winding directions of a delta motor may be reversed by connecting the mid points of the windings together forming a double wye.
Half the winding directions of a wye motor may be reversed by feeding power to the mid points of each phase winding and connecting the winding ends together again forming a double wye.

Or 2/4 pole delta/YY.
