Hello All

I am looking for some guidance in structural design of a 3.5m deep culvert in an airport

the culvert will be in the airport apron with planes passing over

can anyone assist with reasonable surcharge and live loads to use for this analysis

thanks for the feedback

Here's another link from the site RobyengIT mentioned; it has aircraft load.

Are you asking about a box culvert or a pipe? If it's a pipe, keep in mind, fill height tables are not applicable with aircraft (and railroad) loads.

I'd think if you're working at an airport that the airport must have a specification for loads you need to follow for runway design. Ask your client, or get them to sign off on your design inputs if you're required to develop them yourself.

You will have to find the weight of the largest, heaviest plane using that airport. Then get the load on the worst set of wheels and calculate live load from that. The Concrete Pipe design Manual will be the best tool for that. Class V pipe should be what you use. At least you won't need to do the impact load for the runway.
