301 HY stainless steel

anyone has experience with 301 HY (high yield) stainless steel strip ? (270,000 psi min tensile strength)
can it be used to make disc springs ?
will it crack as its HRC up to 52 ?
why most disc spring vendor use 302 ?

Spring temper stainless steel is Type 301 when the product form is sheet/strip, but is Type 302 when the product form is wire. There are a number of spring manufacturers that routinely make disc springs out of Type 301 stainless steel:
