Where have you seen it used? How? One can think of many uses where the words "alternate line" is used. But then again, it is not anything typical or exclusive for a 380 V system. I threw a line from the ship to the lifeboat, but forgot to fasten my end. I had to then throw an "alternate line". Relevant to electricity: I ran 2awg wire for the line side of my 400A service, and after it vaporized, I had to run an "alternate line". OK, OK, red flag this after you've had your chuckle...
