Hello Everyone,

Can someone tell me if you can show 3D annotation on a isometric drawing view?

Thanks

The only way I've found to project FTA annotations onto a drawing is to create the view using the VIEW FROM 3D tool. (I think it's the 3rd icon in the view toolbar)

Hello jackk,

Thanks for you suggestion. I have used that function to create front views and side views that include the FT&A data from the model, but I would like to show dimensions in the isometric view. If that's not possible that is OK, but I just want to know if it could be done.

Yes, it can be done.

(I don't have CATIA in front of me, so I'm going from memory)

Rotate the 3D model to the orientation you want, then switch to your drawing, click the VIEW FROM 3D icon, and just click in the background of the 3D window.

If you have a FTA View or a FTA Capture (with a Named View), you can also choose either of these to make your drafting view from.

Hello Jackk,

I tried what you suggested but it doenst work. Once you select the VIEW FROM 3D icon, selecting the background of the 3D window doenst do anything. Also you cant select an FTA capture either.

Any other ideas??

I've done it before, but I don't have access to CATIA to verify it.

When you select the VIEW FROM 3D icon, what does the prompt say? Hit F1 and see what the help screen says.

Have you tried making the drafting view by selecting a FTA annotation view? (this will probably result in a front view or side view, unless you built a special plane to define the 3D view you want)

Does your capture include a named view?

Hello Jackk,

When I hit the VIEW FROM 3D icon, I get a prompt to select a view from the 3D document. It only allows me to select an existing view that I used to create annotations. Clicking on the background does nothing. I could select one of my existing views, but they would make a front or side view (like you said). I did create a view in my 3D model that is oriented in a way that if I select it, it would result in something similar to an isometric view. Only problem with that is there is no 3D annotation on it, and I can’t transfer any annotations to that view because it’s not perpendicular to the geometry that is being dimensioned.
In the case of selecting a capture, that’s no possible, catia wont let me choose them.

This might work I can't verify it right now.
Orient the view the way you would like to see it.
Select any plane XZ XY or YZ. (not the background)
This works if you want to do an iso thats different from the one it the tool bar hopefully it works for you as well.

I tried and found the same problem. even the copy and past from one view to another does not work.

i think you have to ask DS to make it work if you really need it.
