Dear all,

I am currently trying to examine the best approach to take in order to model a contact during a quasi-static peg in hole insertion operation in Ansys 6.1. I am finding it difficult to see what is the best approach to take as contact analysis seems quite complicated. I was wondering if you could suggest the best approach to take.

I want to model the peg coming into conact with a hole chamfer and the inside of the hole when the peg ins moved relative to the hole where the peg is held by a gripper with certain stiffness characteristics.

What element types should I choose for the peg and hole and what type of contact analysis is approapriate for this situation ( surface to surface). I am new to contact analysis in Ansys and having reviewed the tutorials and the help am still finding it difficult to see the best approach.

Thanks again for your help
