Hi, This is probably a long shot, but I'm in search of a 3D model of a straight bevel gear pair (40/10 teeth).

So far I've only found 2 suppliers that provide CAD models that show all teeth. And only SDP has the correct number of teeth for my application. However, the SDP model does not match the pdf that comes with it and therefore I don't want to use it.

Thanks

bevel gear pair
- all teeth in model
- 40/10 teeth
- module 1.5 (metric)

Hi, Thanks. I'm not really looking into designing them myself. I've done that for spur gears (successfully), but in retrospect it has not been worth it as I can download perfectly good models from the web (e.g. the first link I gave creates any spur gear).

Unfortunately I can not match the profile of a spur gear with that of a bevel. I've tried.

I'm looking for a source to download them from.

Yes, downloading . . . I should have mentioned that.

I found a couple of sources for dimensionally accurate 3D CAD models of bevel-gear sets but without teeth as that's not really necessary if you're purchasing catalog-items and you just need to make sure they fit into your assembly.

I need the teeth because the gear are going to be altered a bit and then 3D printed.

what is your NX version?
The NX7.5 version contains Gear Modeling application. You found it in the %UGII_BASE_DIR%\Localization\prc. Only you have to set that Modeling environment calls this.
If I remember right some early NX versions have got this prc folder, too.

Hi Dutra1000, That sounds promising. I'm not using 7.5 yet, but that will change in the near future. I'll wait for that.

tsjaikdus,
Write your e-amil address and I can share it.

I'm using NX6 and it's not in any folder. What's so special about setting the Modeling Environment?

It seems that I can not send a private message. I removed the c from both the first and the surname of my gmail address.

I've found gearwizard, but I was unable to download it. I'll wait for NX 7.5.

Thanks all.

To Dutra1000:

Could you explain in detail, what do I need to do with this folder named "prc"?

Thanks

eex23,
Your NX installation directory has same structure like this:
c:\siemenes\NX75\ (this is the UGII_BASE_DIR environment variable)
c:\siemens\NX75\ugii is the UGII_ROOT_DIR environment variable.
Check the following file: %UGII_ROOT_DIR%\menus\ug_custom.dirs.dat
This file must contains the following rows:
$UGII_BASE_DIR/localization/$UGII_COUNTRY/GearModeling
$UGII_BASE_DIR/localization/$UGII_COUNTRY/gc_tools
$UGII_BASE_DIR/localization/$UGII_COUNTRY/Checker
$UGII_BASE_DIR/localization/$UGII_COUNTRY

You can see that the UGII_COUNTRY is the key.
Add the UGII_COUNTRY variable to your Windows environment variable list. This variable's value is prc.
Or you can run the NX from DOS-command prompt:
Write (cmd) in the Run Windows command row and hit Enter.
Write (set UGII_COUNTRY=prc) in the old black DOS window and hit Enter.
Write (cd /d %UGII_ROOT_DIR%) and hit Enter.
Write (ugraf)and hit Enter.

And you can use the GC_TOOL applications.
I hope I was clear.
