I would appreciate any feedback for the following problem:

I have a 3d drawing of cylinder (18" dia x 24" height) that I would like to convert to 2d drawing. The 2d drawing would be a rectangular whose one side would be 24" and the other side would be equal to the length of the perimeter of the 18" dia circle. Is there any command in release 14 or 2000 by which I came achieve this? Thanks in advance.

That's a 'sheet metal development'.

Bare AutoCAD doesn't do it.

Rhinoceros does.

MikeHalloran,
Thanks for the info? "Rhinoceros"-never heard of this before. Is this a software or acad module? Any idea how much it might cost me? Thanks....

It's a separate CAD program:

I use it mostly for developing blank and trim patterns for odd tube intersections, but it can do a lot more.
