Hello All,

My PQR material A519 4130 has the tempering temperature at 1051 F(It's a stock material so). My job has a tempering temperature of 1200 F and on job the PWHT is @1150 F. My PQR material is also going to be PWHT @ 1150 F.

My question is would it be a problem to do PWHT on PQR @ 1150 F in spite of the tempering temperature 1050 F. I have read that PWHT shall be 50 F lower than the tempering temperature.

Regards,
Himanshu Naik

Tensile strength properties will be diminished.

Weldstan - 106000 psi is the tensile strength of the PQR material and I am going to do PWHT @1150 F for 2 hours and as per code 95000 psi is the requirement. So just wanted to know, after PWHT will the tensile properties be bad considering it has 105000 psi strength.

Depending on the weld filler metal used, you should be able to meet the 95 ksi minimum ultimate tensile strength requirement.

I am using ER100S-G for TIG, MIG, E101T1-GM for FCAW and F9P8-EF3-F3-H4 for SAW.

I think you are cutting it close with the SAW filler. Good luck.
