4130 Quenched R> 85/100 daN/mm¦ 4

Hi,
I have an Italian print that uses 4130, the problem I have is in the legend it calls out for: “Stato fornitura Mat- Bonificato R > 85/100 daN/mm²” when I Google it I come up with: State provision Mat- Quenched R> 85/100 daN/mm²

I know it has to do with the Tensile Strength of the material but can someone tell me exactly what it means?

85-100 daM/mm^2 equals 123275 - 145030 PSI.
If you know this is the tensile strength range, than that would be your range. I am not sure if "R" designates ultimate tensile or yield strength.

Rm is ultimate tensile strength and Rp is the yield strength.
 
I have seen Rp 0.2 expressed as yield strength, and as corypad mentioned Rm as ultimate tensile strength.

"Stato fornitura mat-bonificato" means :
"supplied material condition : quenched"
( possibly Q+T, annealed , normalized - depending on shape of
steel )

85/100 daN/mm2 means : 850/1000 N/mm2
i.e. most possibly our Italian friends mean to say :

R(yield) > 850 N/mm2 / R(tensile) > 1000 N/mm2

Above values are in the range expected for steel material after heat treatment (quenching or....)

 
daN/mm2 are also known as hectobars (hbar), as used for design of the EH101 helicopter (maybe it's used a bunch for stuff outside aerospace?). It's a rarely used stress unit in my experience, and it's similarity to kg/mm2 was both occasionally dangerous and vaguely convenient.
