We have a customer requesting 4140 Calcium Aluminum treated. That's not unusual other than the part would be best suited by us receiving a 24" diameter, 5 or 5 1/4" thick plate. Having a 24x24 x 5" THK square would suffice, though would not be ideal. At this point I'll just take what I can get.

None of our typical sources or ones we can find via google are telling us anything other than "They don't make cal treated 4140 over 10-12" diameter" and I can't find plate thicker than 5" that's so treated. I'm being told that requires special mill runs.

Since this part does not get any additional treatment after we machine it, I'm hoping we can get them to allow us to use 4140 that isn't Cal Al treated. To the best of my knowledge, the Cal Al treatment is to aid in machinability while maintaining comparable mechanical properties.

Does anyone know of any USA-based (preferably) sources for 4140CT that would suit my size requirements?

Thank you for your time.
