Hi All,

Is there a general rule of thumb for the size to machine the threads to so that they are still in tolerance after the EP process?

TIA

for threads , but not recommended to EP, it removes metal quickly
Recommendation no more than .0005 per surface

Thanks guys!

I figured we could hold the OD and pitch dia on the high side of the tolerance prior to and then hopefully it would fall in after EP.

If these are harden fasteners post bake after for embrittledment

they are 440C hardened to 58C. Do you think the EP process affects it?

It's been a while since I got involved with EP, however look at the standard for EP, look at the solution.
secondly please obtain this standard or similar depending where in the world you are at.
AMS2759/9 baking for embrittlement.
