Hello,

[ol 1]
[li]Client requested 8” WN flange nozzle Outlet, Flush-type shell connection.[/li]
[li]According to table 5.12b: h(height of opening) = 8 5/8” or 219,1 mm.[/li]
[li]5.7.8.4 g) says “The corroded thickness of the nozzle neck and transition piece, tn, shall be not less than 16 mm (5/8 in.)”.[/li]
[/ol]

If I use an 8” pipe as nozzle neck, in order to comply with 5.7.8.4 g), I would need to use an 8” sch 120 pipe (wall thickness = 18,26 mm), this would imply that h real = 219,1-(2x18,26) = 182,55 mm.

Would this application be correct, since h “opening height” would not be the value indicated in table 5.12b and figure attach?

Tank Data: D=16 m, H=12 m, Product: vegetal raw oil G=0,928

Regards,
KB

Years ago, when trying to detail some flush nozzles, I had run into this discrepancy and thought it had been fixed. I'm not sure if they reverted to an older detail at some point and lost the "fix" or what.
Anyway, the intent is that the pipe shown is 8" pipe, which has 8.625" OD, not ID, and similar for 12", and details should be adjusted to reflect that.
