When the 60 second trip test is required is it

A. Time it from when you open the inspector test till you get water there

Or

B. from the inspector test is opened , and time it from the dry pipe valve actually trips till you get water at the inspector test

Any Nfpa 13 section to support???

NFPA 13-2010 7.2.3.2 System size shall be such that initial water is discharged from the system test connection in not more than 60 seconds, starting at the normal air pressure on the system and at the time of fully opened test connection.

Thanks have had not to worry about it for awhile

And did not have the book with me

skdesigner,I don't get. Does the code mean from the time that the inspector's test connection is being opened to a full opening position?

open the inspector test valve fully----- time starts when valve is in the full open position

time end when water starts coming out

Typically you would use a globe valve on the inspector's test. It usually takes a few seconds to spin the hand wheel wide open - sometimes a few seconds is the difference between the test passing or failing.
