The part strength is not what I am worried about it is the heat treatment. The part has a ACME thread that currently is nitrocarburized to 60Rc. What I need help with is a HT process to achieve similar surface hardness in the cast part.
Thanks in advance

It sounds like your current materials selection and processes are ideal. Why are you trying to make things difficult for yourself with this proposed change?

Cory is being way too polite.

You need to have a long talk with your lawyer before replacing a forging with a casting.

I'm sure it is a cost reason for changing from a forging to a casting, but I agree with Cory and Mike. Yes, there are surface enhancement processes for cast iron such as laser, but I would not release such a product without fatigue and ultimate load testing of the affected area. You have to be careful with transition zone hardness gradients.
