We are looking at a boat with a pair of 8-71 NA's and plan on repowering the boat in a few years but with the amount of money the boat costs we need to run it as is right now. To get the most power out of these motors what is the best bet? do they make a turbocharger kit or supercharger kit for the 8-71's? and if they do where can we find them and which would make the most sense?

- Get the blowers rebuilt or replaced.

- Change the fuel filters, often.

- Add more air filter area.

- Duct combustion air from outside, instead of using heated engineroom air.

- Measure the exhaust gas backpressure at WOT. If it's anywhere near the limit, consider upsizing the exhaust system, starting with the pipes with the smallest holes.

- Check the exhaust risers' interior for signs of corrosion. If they're >= 5 years old, it may be time to replace them anyway.
