802.11g 1 watt transmitter

Does 802.11g broadcast in the microwave region?
I would like to buy a 1 wat outdoor type 802.11g transmitter booster ( connects to an AP). Would there be any health risks putting the unit and antenna in the room next to me? They tell me they will broadcast 3,000 ft. Surely it will not be able to receive from that far away..or will it. Your thoughts on the subject.

I would not sleep right next to it, but in another room, you will be fine. The 1 watt output will probably be attenuated to 1 milliwatt by the time it is one room away.

It is microwave at 2.4 GHz.

The unit will work a lot better if you can get the antenna outside of the building.

Your cell phone is the same frequency (roughly) and it's almost that power (1/2 watt typically) and it's next to your ear.

The 1 watt won't be CW also, don't worry about it for danger.
