adding more power to an old Hydraulic press.

Top and Bottom Plates are of AISI 8620 Material. May i change them with O2 tool steel plates or S5 tool steel... for adding more Strength to the structure. Worried about the Brittleness of tool steel.
having both the plates in backyard old stock... wont cost me anything.

Need suggestions.

Best Regards

How is the 8620 one failing? Becoming bent?
I would use the S5 with a 700F temper, it is very tough and still quite strong.
