a dc generator retrofit

i have retrofit an old dc generator, it´s a kraemer excitation system (with two excitations)... to rise the power, and i have to rewind the excitation J-K giving more turns with the same wire, C-D i rise it, and the serial windings and compensation windings i change, the same with the rotor winding.. and then I reduce the gap between rotor and stator core, what do you think?
