Here is a tip for technology and a solution for the 2 pipe fan coil hotels
My team successfully applied a hybrid fan coil heat pump (perfittech/PMAC) invented in Japan to solve the two-pipe fan coil issue in multiple hotels in the US.
Here is the feature.
1. Room-based, with no disruption to the total system. Replace the 2-pipe fan coil with the hybrid fan coil heat pump at room level.
2. The hybrid fan coil heat pump offer heat or cool any time as needed.
2.1 Mode: Fan coil heat/cool, Fan coil heat/coil + heat pump boosting heat/coil, Heat pump recovery cool/heat, based on water loop temp ranges from 45 to 120 deg F.
3. Quick turn-over, replace the fan coil within the day. No disrupting the hotel's operation.
4. The hybrid fan coil heat pump unit uses only 1/2 to 2/3 of the water volume compared to the original fan coil.
5. The hybrid unit uses less than 7 A in the maximum case and requires no power upgrade.
Something we learn to be important as belows.
1. How to ensure the water temperature in the hotel rooms is within the range of 45 to 120 degrees F.
2. How to ensure the pumping system runs constantly even during the chiller and boiler changeover period.
3. How to ensure the water is clean in the loop as the system has a long history. (Particle size smaller than 20 mesh)
(Otherwise, the particles build up quickly in the strainer of each hybrid fan coil heat pump.
Overall, it is a no-brainer solution for a two-pipe fan coil, and the result is better than that of a four-pipe fan coil.
The project cost is said less than 1/2 compared to a 4 pipe upgrade.
