A Term I'd Never Heard Before

Just wondering if anyone out there knows what "Exclusion Techniques" refers to?

It is a term that I had never heard of before - from a fairly well known Ground Engineering Reference Book.

The only exclusion techniques I can find refer to preventing access to animals to homes, airports, etc. I can't find any engineering references.

I'm not really familiar with using that term, but here is what I found with a search for "Exclusion Techniques in Geotechincal Engineering"
