Hi there
Good day

i have some inquiry and curiosity, may I know, is the terminology/notation for A11 calculated based on CLT for homogenous composite
similar with E11? (modulus of elasticity in 11 direction)

thanks

Many thanks SWComposites..I really appreciate your respond and reply
hence E11 is A11 divided by thickness of the laminate then?
am i right?
many thanks SWcomposites

Arrisa, no. To further extend:

Symmetric laminate (need not be balanced): Ex = 1/(a11*t)
Symmetric and balanced laminate: Ex = (A11-A12^2/A22)/t
Unsymmetric laminate: Calculation based upon what curvatures are restrained and only equal to the above if all curvatures are not restrained. But that is not the typical scenario and usually one or more curvature directions are suppressed when an in-plane load is applied to an unsymmetric laminate.

No.

E1 = lamina fiber or warp dirction
Ex = laminate x direction (x is usually set = 0 fiber direction)

Please get a laminated plate theory text and study it.
