Hey all,

Does anyone have experience with this flavor steel? A286 mfr. per SAE AMS 5726 Apparently it is supposed to have a UTS = 200 ksi...Is this the strongest steel available?

Thanks,

TJ

"Is this the strongest steel available? "

Well...no, for corrosion-resistant steels there are other PH steels and nickel/iron superalloys with higher achievable tensile strengths, and there are other steels and alloys with UTS approaching 300 ksi. I'm also not sure that 200 ksi UTS is achievable for A286...see data sheet here:

AMS 5726 specifies 200 ksi strength level for A286 steel. This is not the strongest steel available.
