does anyone know where I can get mechanical properties for A514 Grade E at elevated temperatures (650°F)? Specifically I need the following properties...

Elastic Modulus
Poisson's Ratio
Density
Ultimate Tensile Strength
Yield Tensile Strength
Thermal Expansion Coefficient

sloth4z;
This is a tall order. After further review, it would appear ASTM A 514 Grade E comes very close to ASME SA 517 Grade E plate material. Do you have a copy of ASME B&PV Code, Section II, Part D, handy? If you do, you will find the following information based on what I stated above @ 650 deg F for SA 517 Grade E plate;

UTS
YS
Modulus of Elasticity
Thermal Expansion
Poisson's ratio

Density - assume unchanged for steel from ambient temperature

Thank you very much. I actually do have a copy handy. I waded through all the tables and found everything I needed except for poisson's ratio. The only table with poisons ratio (or modulus of rigidity) was TABLE NF-1 which contains a small list of non-ferrous metals. Would you mind giving me another nudge in the right direction?

According to the ASM Handbook, Poisson's ratio for ferritic steel ranges fom 0.29 at 100 [°]C (212 [°]F) to 0.30 at 475 [°]C (887 [°]F).

Cory
