We are a UK company looking at setting up supply chain in Houston, we normally use S355J2 and similar. In the US this is not available so we are looking at A572 Gr50 which is close.
At the moment we are doing this remotely, anyway we are talking to a manufacturing outfit who seem to be having problems supplying the material in 4.25OD tube.
We have experienced similar problems with our UK manufacturers and we just source supply ourselves and free issue it to the manufacturer, and I want to do the same thing in the US.
Hence do any of you know of suppliers of A572 GR50 tubulars in the Houston area?

Isn't A572 a plate spec?
There are ASTM specs for 50ksi min yield structural tube, but those are different.

Damn, I think you might be correct Ed, any advise on 50ksi min structural tube spec? In my defence we can get S355 in plate, tube, hollow section etc etc, I had just assumed that as our world steel guide gave A572 as the equivalent then it covered tube...

A513 might be a good starting point for you to check out.

It is better to have enough ideas for some of them to be wrong, than to be always right by having no ideas at all.

Look at API line pipe material especially in the Houston area.

Thanks for your pointers, I am off to research some more substitute materials.
