Abaqsu/Explicit: Surface Based Cohesive Behavior for 2D analysis

Reference is made to the above mentioned thread. I am posting this thread to build upon the collective knowledge and for future reference. Feel free to update it.
Abaqus 2018
A. Abaqus/Explicit does not support General Contact behavior in 2D analysis stating that " ***ERROR: *CONTACT currently does not support the use of 2D surfaces (see surface ASSEMBLY_M_SURF-1)"
B. Abaqus/Explicit have cohesive behavior as a contact property for only General Contact type stating that "Surface based COHESIVE BEHAVIOR cannot be used for contact pair interactions. See the surface interaction named INTPROP-CZ."

This implies that cohesive behavior cannot be modelled for 2D analysis in Abaqus/Explicit.

General contact can be used for 2D models in Abaqus/Explicit since 2019 release.
