Hi Guys,

This is my first post on the forum. I am currently working on a contact analysis problem. I meshed my part in Hypermesh and imported the input file into Abaqus with the required node sets for further analysis. I can't import the .iges file into Abaqus due to a lot of errors. Hence, I have to work only with the mesh to generate a slave surface for defining the interaction. Can someone please advice me on how to go about it?

Thanks,

Vig

If you are going to be using Abaqus on a fairly regular basis, then you are better off investing time in going through a few examples in the CAE User's Guide to get up and running. Abaqus has the best documentation of any pre/post processor or solver that I have come across; it will be a good investment.

Create also all necessary named surfaces and element sets in Hypermesh.

Or create these groups in A/CAE on the mesh. This is quite simple with various selection techniques (by angle, e.g.).
