Hi,

I am performing dynamic explicit analysis in Abaqus to simulate the buckling behavior of thin-walled cold-formed steel channel sections.

I performed a linear buckling analysis and natural frequency analysis first.

In the dynamic explicit post-buckling analysis I want to add imperfections, inform of certain factors of nodal displacements, that I got from linear buckling analysis. I added the below keywords in the post-buckling model.
*IMPERFECTION,FILE=job-2,STEP=1
1,0.5
2,0.45
4,1.2
The keyword that I added in the linear buckling model is
*NODE FILE, GLOBAL=NO
U
The snap of my model is attached herewith.

When I ran the explicit analysis I got the below error in Abaqus and the analysis was aborted.

MODE NUMBER MUST BE A POSITIVE INTEGER

Could you please provide any direction on how I can resolve this issue?

Many thanks!

Why do you use the GLOBAL=NO parameter ? Try without it.

By the way, you don’t have to put screenshots in docz files, they can be attached directly. This way they will be displayed together with text in your post.

Great thanks!

I do not know how to attach it directly, that's why I do so .

Could you please let me know how to attach it directly? Is it by clicking the image icon at the top?

Many thanks again.

Yes, the "Upload Image" button allows you to attach images directly to posts. This way is much more convenient.

Great! thanks again. That makes my life much easier!
