Abaqus/Explicit connector preload

Hi, Can somebody advise how to apply a preload for CONN3D2 element so that the force or displacement is an initial condition and applied before *STEP definition? So that the force is in sxial direction and other DoF's are coupled. The purpose is to use this for bolt and contac spring modeling. Thanks!
