Hi

I am using abaqus 6.10 to model the effects of fire on a concrete column. I am just wondering is there a way, where I can input the data from a fire curve and abaqus can use this data to give me an output for my model.

I have created a basic model which works to only a single temperature which has to be in-putted in the predefined field option. Basically i am just wondering if it is possible to have abaqus to increase the temperature automatically over a period of time.

Thanks in advance

Just ramp the temperature load over a set period.

Thanks, I know this may sound a bit stupid, but am new to abaqus, how do I ramp the temperature over a set period??

For transient thermal loads you'll find that the surface temperature will quickly increase before tending to some steady state value. Internal temperatures will increase less rapidly, and hence the initial temperature difference through the structure will be greatest in the early stages of the transient. This temperature difference can cause the greatest stresses and deflection (ie. from bending through differential thermal expansion). For your case you're better running a thermal model to calculate the temperatures and load those temperatures into your static stress model. Otherwise set the amplitude to ramp in the *step command.
