Abaqus Help

I need a little help using Abaqus, as I am new to the program and have been asked to help with a FEA project. If anyone would be willing to help please let me know. As far as I can tell its a quick and easy project if you know the program.

I am new to Abaqus. I am just modeling a heat fin connected to a substrate base. When I creat the base and the heat fin, I have no problem. However, when I go to assign the sections and materials it won't allow me to create the 2 sections for the silicon substrate and the aluminum fin.

Abaqus won't let you create sections or assign appropriate sections to parts? The former doesn't seem to make sense to me. The latter, on the other hand, will not work if you are trying to assign a section that is inappropriate for a given part.
