Abaqus Input File Creation

I am using Abaqus for research and I am having a hard time connecting to the required server to access the license when I am not hardwired on site. Its a VPN issue and not the topic of this post. I bring this up however because this is the reason I want to start using Abaqus through the command line so that I can still at least write some code while not on site and just wait until I am on site to run the code. I am looking for a good place to start to learn how to use Abaqus through the command line and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The models I am creating are fairly simple bolted connections in shear with various materials as shims. I don't know if this is relevant but just wanted to give some background incase it helps. Thank you all again!

I did not get your intension clear.
Do you want to learn abauqs command line or do you want to work with your inputdecks with no graphic
pre-processor and do it in text mode since then you do not need server connection for licenses.

1. For Abaqus command line read:
- Abaqus Analysis User's Manual, 3.2.2 Abaqus/Standard, Abaqus/Explicit, and Abaqus/CFD execution

2. To get know inputdeck following abaqus documentation is useful:
- Abaqus Keywords Reference Manual
- Getting Started with Abaqus: Keywords Edition
- Abaqus Keywords Reference Manual

Scripting User's Guide might be another one to have a look at. I'd recommend becoming comfortable with Python before going through it.

I don't see how Python could help when the input file is created with keywords.



When a simple mesh needs to be created without a meshing tool, then I recommend to check this:
