I am modelling an Euler-column in Abaqus. I use two models:

model 1-get first buckling form through a linear pertubation step.

model 2-use result from model 1 through "edit keywords" as an imperfection shape for model 2, and find displacement at midspan for a given axial load.

I want to use Isight to find for which axial load the column will fail. I use two abaqus components, and Hooke-Jeeves optimalization, with varying axial load in model 2. How can I ensure model 2 getting the 1st buckling mode from model 1 in Isight?

Files can are also be handled like parameter. Create an output parameter in the first component and pick up the result file. Then provide it as input for the second Abaqus component, so the solver finds the file that is needed now.

Thanks for your reply. As for now, the 1st component doesn`t display the eigenvector(1. buckling mode) from the odb-file. How can I fix that? The 2nd component only reads the inputfile for its job, which doesn`t contain the results from 1st component (see attachment)

Why do you want to read out the .odb? Just pick it up and provide it to the second component. The solver will read out the imperfections himself during the datacheck, when the *Imperfection command is found in the second analysis.

The Isight simulation fail also when I don`t specify any ODB file from the first component, and the log says it can`t locate "buckling.fil", where buckling is the name of the eigensolver model.

Reading imperfections from the .odb is only supported since FP1814 of Abaqus 2018. In older versions of Abaqus you have to define the .fil as output from the first analysis and provide it to the second analysis.

Can you please tell me how I do this? It has been generated a fil from the eigenvalue analysis in workspace, but obviously Isight can not find it, when I specify it in the output

Hard to explain with words...

1. In the 'Sim-Flow' tab mark the first Abaqus component. Then go to the tab 'Files'. There you see the tabs Input and Output. In the Output create a new file parameter and select the file (.fil or .odb) that shall be picked up by Isight.

2. When this is done, go to the Dataflow tab. Select the components in a way, that you have left the first Abaqus run and at the right side the second one. On the right side, in the three, mark the second Abaqus component. On the left side in the first component select the new output file. Then click on the purple arrow to create the mapping. It should then look like in the attached image.

Your explanation was quite clear, thank you. However, how should I configure fil?

It's the same with the .fil file.
In general always use the fixed file name option. Otherwise Isight uses different names when writing the files in the RunDir and then Abaqus can't find them.

And as always, during building and testing of workflows, switch the option to always keep the RunDirs, so you can see what was going on.

The error seems to come from the Abaqus datacheck. Something is wrong in the keywords. Open that .dat file and check what the problem is.

I upload the files in this and two following posts, inp files(first eigenvalueanalysis, then non linear) and isight file. Maybe it is easier to see what is wrong.
I hope you have time to take a look, since I am completely new to using Isight, and I want to use it for my master thesis.

I understand that, and thanks for all the help.
