Abaqus Kernel

Hi everybody,

I've recently read the Abaqus Scrinting User's manual and I don't understand the concept of Abaqus Kernel. What's it exactly? Which's its function? Does it have any relation with the Kernel of a computer operating system?

It is the CAD geometry kernel and is ACIS (*.SAT ).
