Hi everyone,

I want to generate the .mnf file in order to import it in MSC. ADAMS. I have ABAQUS 6.13

The piece is just a steel tube with one of its ends fixed.

I know that I have to generate twO steps. One for the *FREQUENCY and the other for a *SUBSTRUCTURE.

My problem is that I am not sure about the boundary conditions that I have to select. This is why I am doing:

-In the frequency step, my BC is:

**Symmetry/Antisymmetry/Encastre

**ENCASTRE(U1=U2=U3=UR1=UR2=UR3=0)

**I select the face that I want to fix

-In the substructure step, my BC is:

**Retained nodal dofs

**I select all the options (U1,U2,U3,UR1,UR2,UR3,0)

**I select the other faces of my tube. (HERE IS WHERE I THINK I AM DOING SOMETHING WRONG)

When I import my .mnf file into MSC. ADAMS it looks like all my nodes are fixed. So my questions is besides of what am I doing wrong:

-What exactly are the Retained nodal dofs. Can someone tell me a more friendly meaning?

-What faces or options should I select in my BC for the substructure step.

-Which kind of element do you recommend me for my mesh?

Let me know if you need more information from my side.

THANKS
