Hi all,

I am running the simulation about a tire lying on a road and adding load on the sidewall of the tire.

I was given a tire model which the tread of the tire was in contact with the road. Then I made some changes in the 3D input file to make the sidewall of the tire lying on the road. However, when I ran the analysis, the 3D msg file came up with erros as shown below:

MAX. PENETRATION ERROR 28.4217E-15 AT NODE 34677 OF CONTACT PAIR
(SIDEWALL-UP,SROAD)
MAX. CONTACT FORCE ERROR -3.58178 AT NODE 58678 OF CONTACT PAIR
(SIDEWALL-UP,SROAD)
THE ESTIMATED CONTACT FORCE ERROR IS OUTSIDE OF CONVERGENCE TOLERANCES.

MAX. PENETRATION ERROR 235.391E-03 AT NODE 67678 OF CONTACT PAIR
(SIDEWALL-UP,SROAD)
MAX. CONTACT FORCE ERROR 913.912 AT NODE 67678 OF CONTACT PAIR
(SIDEWALL-UP,SROAD)
PENETRATION ERROR TOO LARGE COMPARED TO DISPLACEMENT INCREMENT.

Could anyone please tell me how to solve this problem? Since I am new for abaqus, I may describe the situation not clear enough.
If anyone need more information, please tell me.
Thank you very mcuh.

Regards,

Jaycee

The messages mean, that the contact states and not within the acceptable tolerances. Usually with additional iterations the problem becomes smaller and disappears. If not, you have to check at what location the problem stays and whats going on there.

Sometimes contact stabilization helps to solve such issues.
