Hi,

Is there a function in ANSYS which can recreate the ABAQUS 'free body cut' behaviour? It lets you take a slice through the model and obtain the forces and moments acting about a point in the sliced cross section. I need it to check that a shell model of a wind turbine blade is seeing the same loads as a beam model of the same blade.

Any help will be appreciated!

Hi!

Are you using Workbench or Mechanical APDL?
In WB you use Results -> Probe -> Moment reaction/Force reaction. You will be given a variety of location methods for the probes. Make sure your output contains nodal forces. Also pay attention to summation cordinate system and other settings inside the probe.
In Mechanical APDL the commands to read up on is FSUM and SPOINT.

Hope this helps
PB
