Hi everyone,

I'm still new with ABAQUS and I'm kinda stuck at a stage in my analysis. I'm trying to model cylindrical shells subjected to global bending, where the bending moments are applied at some reference points (centres of the cross-section). I tried using the constraint - coupling - kinematics and constraint - MPC - beam but it all ended in errors and aborted operation:

This was the warning before exiting in the first case,

Whenever a translation (rotation) dof at a node is constrained by a kinematic coupling definition the translation (rotation) dofs for that node cannot be included in any other constraint including mpcs, rigid bodies, etc.

1 nodes lie on the axis of their cylindrical or spherical transformation systems. The local coordinate systems at these nodes are not well-defined. The nodes have been identified in node set WarnNodeCylTransSys.

MPCS (EXTERNAL or INTERNAL, including those generated from rigid body definitions), KINEMATIC COUPLINGS, AND/OR EQUATIONS WILL ACTIVATE ADDITIONAL DEGREES OF FREEDOM

Boundary conditions are specified on inactive dof of 11 nodes. The nodes have been identified in node set WarnNodeBCInactiveDof.

I honestly don't understand how to go about rectifying the warnings or to get to transfer the bending moments accurately from a reference point to the perimeter elements.

Can anyone help?
