Hi, I am new in FEM Model. I need to do a static analysis for skid frame model. Before that, I have to create the mesh model. My supervisor said that the mesh model needs to be continued, including for two separated surface. The problem is my structure has a complex geometry, so it is hard to fuse together all separate surface. Is it enough if I just use tie constraints to replace the continued mesh model? Or will it give a significant difference in results?

Tie constraints, if defined properly, are usually sufficient and very useful. It's better to avoid them within or very close to the areas of interest and check the results for spurious stress concentrations though.
