I created an Abaqus 2D MODEL. It consists of one part of size 10mm X 10 mm with a 5mm diameter spherical hole in it. And other part was a sphere of diameter 5mm. I assigned sections to it with elastic materials, 1.) E= 50 MPa, nu=0.3 and 2.) E= 30,000 MPa, nu=0.3 to each part respectively. After assembly I applied Tie constraint to these two parts and meshed it with 0.25 mm seed.
I applied roller support at the bottom edge and one of the side edges. And applied 7 mm displacement at the top. After the simulation, the result shows that the spherical part crosses the bottom edge, which is against the boundary condition. It does the same even if I apply the analytical rigid part at the bottom surface. Please see the attached screenshot for the model and the observed result.
I am expecting that the result should show that the spherical part will also deform and not cross the bottom edge. It should also contribute to the total stiffness of the mix, but I am not seeing the same in the results when I am calculating modulus of the mix.
Can you help me resolve this issue. Thanks in advance
