To model undulated seabed, I am using Abaqus/Standard, and for this purpose I define the seabed as distinct nodes (the coordinates are extracted from geophysical survey) along the route with spacing interval of 1 (assumption), then by the command of “*SURFACE, NAME=SEABED, TYPE=NODE” I define the seabed surface and in the Command of “*CONTACT PAIR” I define SEABED as Master surface. But I encounter with error saying “Node based surface can not be master surface” (of course I noted that this is mentioned in ABQUS help as well).
Can somebody advise how I can model undulated seabed once it is 3D?
NB, to model the seabed once it is in a plane (without any curve) I do not have problem and I use by the above method using command “*SURFACE, NAME=SEABED, TYPE=CYLINDER”, but the problem arises when there is curve in the pipeline route.
In general I appreciate any advice to model undulated seabed, and am I on right track for modeling seabed?
