Hello, I must perform an analysis work. I created a mesh with hypermesh and I want to import it into abaqus to perform analysis. I have a problem. I imported the .inp files into abaqus. The problem is that abaqus detects all imported files as models. I would like to have a single model containing various parts that interact with each other.
I tried to click on the model selecting import but the problem is that I can not import .inp files (so they contain the mesh) but I can import for example geometries .step
Does anyone know how to help me?

Instead of using Import —> Model use Import —> Part. This way you will be able to import inp file containing node and element data as a single part.

When you've imported the .inp and all mesh parts are within one part in A/CAE, then do this:
Part->Copy->Seperate disconnected regions
This will generate separate mesh part for each disconnected mesh region.

Unfortunately, the two procedures are not good. I can't import the part because there is no .inp among the available extensions. I've only: .SAT, .IGES, .VDA, .STEP,.MODEL, .CATPART, . ODB, .SIM.....EXC

I can't even do as Mustaine3 says because it tells me the following error: " Splitting part into separate parts failed".

Do you have any other ideas?

Which version of Abaqus do you use ? When you select Import —> Part there should be an option to choose "Abaqus Input File (*.inp)" in File Filter.

Abaqus/CAE 6.14-1
in filter file I don't see this option

Unfortunately this option is not available in versions older than 2017.

so I have to get the updated version. Ok thank you very much for the availability

I confirm that from the 2017 version you can import parts with files that have an extension of .inp. Maybe it can also serve other people.
