Abatement Plant Design (SO2)

I have been set a project for the design of an abatement plant, cleaning SO2, HCl and particulates from a gas stream. Can anyone help me with any useful internet references on this subject, especially with regard to sizing the necessary equipment eg limestone scrubbers.

 

I'm a junior in chemical eng. & I have been set to design a column(or a pressure vessel which has L>>d)....can anyone recommend me a reference for the mechanical design...(not process design).
