Abnormal Structural steel designation

I am currently analyzing existing roof framing members and there is a strange call out. Several of the members are shown to be MPC14x17.3?? I cannot find any information on what this actually is. The project was done back in the early 80's if that makes a difference. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Are you looking at the actual building or just the drawings? If you've only seen the drawings, then MPC could possibly represent "Metal Plate Connected" timber truss. Might that be it?

Maybe they are channels. Go to the site and visually inspect them members. Take measurements of depth, flange width flange thickness, web thickness.

Seems like I've seen some lightweight channels that were used for mobil home frames in one of the older ASD books, but don't remember if that's one of them.

There are also some oddball shapes used for railroad cars.

We are currently just looking at the drawings. The call out is not for the metal plate connected timber truss. The member in question is a beam for a flat roof of an airport terminal. It appears that it is some type of lightweight member that JStephen talks about and we cannot track down any information on it. It looks like we will end up going to the site and taking measurements, if we can get to it. Thanks for the input.

Could possibly mean Metal Plate Connector (as previously suggested), 14 gage, 17.3 Kip Capacity?

However, for that capacity, the 14 gage material seems light.
