In AWS for non-prequalified WPS fillet weld, a mock-up test is required and several Macro sample are made from mock-up specimen.

how we made a mock-up specimen(size...)?

1.) Go to section 4.11 of the D1.1 code.A test weld with the minimum and maximum weld sizes are to be performed. These may be combined on the same piece of material.

2.) Go to Figure 4.19 or 4.20 to determine which joint applies to your application (plate or tubular).

3.) After sectioning the welds, determine if the weld complies with the acceptance criteria specified in 4.8.4.1, (2) and (3) for weld size and thorough root fusion.
